Google is reportedly planning a major change in its Pixel supply chain. The company plans to stop manufacturing Pixel smartphones, smartwatches and wireless earbuds in China from 2027, according to supply chain reports published on August 18, 2026. Google has not officially confirmed the plan yet.
Under the reported plan, India and Vietnam will become the main production centres for Google Pixel devices. Vietnam is expected to continue handling flagship Pixel production, while India is set to take a bigger share of production and exports.
Google has already increased its manufacturing presence in India. Foxconn is assembling Pixel phones at its Tamil Nadu facility, while Dixon Technologies makes Pixel devices at its Noida unit. India made Pixel phones have also been planned for export markets.
Vietnam has also become important for Google. The company began moving key development and production work there, including the New Product Introduction process for high end Pixel models. This process helps prepare a new phone for large scale manufacturing.
The timing is important for India as Google prepares to launch the Pixel 11 in the country on August 20 at a starting price of ₹89,999. Counterpoint Research has also reported strong growth for Pixel in India premium smartphone segment. If the reported shift happens, India could gain a bigger role in Google global electronics supply chain, bringing more manufacturing and export opportunities.
