Every year on July 29, the whole world celebrates International Tiger Day. This special day was started in 2010 during a major meeting in Russia to protect these beautiful wild cats from disappearing. The main goal of this day is to spread awareness about saving tigers and their natural forest homes.

Tigers are the largest members of the cat family. They are fast runners and amazing swimmers. Did you know that a tiger's roar is so loud that it can be heard from two miles away? Also, just like human fingerprints, no two tigers have the exact same stripes!

Sadly, tigers face many dangers today. People are cutting down forests, which destroys their natural homes. Some bad people also hunt tigers illegally for their beautiful skin and bones. This illegal hunting is called poaching, and it has caused tiger numbers to drop dangerously low in many parts of the world.

India’s Pride, How We Are Leading the World in Saving Tigers?

While tigers are in danger globally, India is doing an absolutely amazing job of protecting them! Thanks to "Project Tiger," which was launched by the Indian government back in 1973, our country has become the safest home for these big cats.

Today, India is incredibly proud to be home to about 75% of the total wild tiger population in the entire world. According to the latest counting, India currently has 3,682 wild tigers roaming safely in our forests. This is a massive victory for our country! To keep them safe, our government has built more than 50 special tiger reserves across different states where no one is allowed to harm them.

By celebrating International Tiger Day, we promise to keep protecting our beloved national animal. Tigers are very important for keeping our forests healthy and perfectly balanced. When we save tigers, we also save our green forests, our rivers, and our entire environment.

Let us join hands to spread the word. Together, we can make sure that our future generations will always get to see the magnificent Royal Bengal Tiger roaring safely in the wild!
