Gurugram based Amber Enterprises India is making a big move into smartphone manufacturing. The company has entered into a partnership with Oppo Mobiles India to manufacture smartphones for major brands including Oppo, OnePlus and Realme.

According to the company plan, trial production is expected to begin in the March 2027 quarter. After successful trials, commercial production is planned to start in the first quarter of FY28. Amber Enterprises is targeting production of around 8 million smartphones in its first year. The company aims to increase this number to 15-16 million smartphones in the second year.

To manage its new smartphone business, Amber is also planning to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for this new vertical. This shows that the company is preparing to make smartphone manufacturing an important part of its future growth. Amber is also looking at expanding its electronics manufacturing business. The company plans to set up a copper clad laminate plant by 2029 -2030. Copper clad laminate is an important material used in printed circuit boards (PCBs).

The move comes at a time when Amber PCB business is facing pressure on margins. With smartphone manufacturing and new electronics projects, the company is looking to build new sources of growth. The partnership with Oppo could give Amber a strong entry into India fast growing smartphone manufacturing market.
