In a major update for lakhs of medical aspirants and student groups across India, the Supreme Court has firmly refused requests to change or reconstitute the high powered review panel overseeing national entrance exam administration. During the hearing on petitions concerning student protests and examination reforms, the top court stated that it will not agree to any changes in the committee's composition.
The bench noted that the panel functions as an extended arm of the court and is working under its direct supervision. Dismissing objections raised by petitioners regarding the neutrality of certain panel members, the judges pointed out that the court cannot proceed on a presumption of bias against an expert body selected by the judiciary itself.
The court reiterated that the review panel is tasked with examining core issues, assessing administrative lapses, and suggesting long term security reforms for exams conducted by the National Testing Agency. The bench made it clear that students and stakeholders can directly present their grievances, documents, and evidence before the panel. This decision ensures that the ongoing administrative review will proceed without procedural delays.
