Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is preparing to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India with the upcoming launch of the all electric Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Both luxury SUVs are expected to arrive in India in the second half of 2027 as completely built units (CBUs), imported from the United Kingdom.
Unlike their petrol and diesel counterparts, which are locally assembled in India, the electric versions will initially be sold as fully imported models. This approach will allow JLR to assess customer demand before deciding whether local assembly should be introduced in the future. The Range Rover Electric features a 118.5kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup producing up to 550hp and 850Nm of torque. The manufacturer claims a driving range of up to 600km on the WLTP cycle, while rapid charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 22 minutes under suitable conditions.
The Range Rover Sport Electric also uses a 118.5kWh battery and delivers up to 550hp and 850Nm of torque. It has a claimed WLTP range of up to 609km. Official India launch prices and final delivery schedules remain to be confirmed. With these models, JLR aims to bring electric performance, premium comfort and off-road capability to India luxury SUV market.
