Tensions are rising in the national capital as Delhi Police have officially rejected permission for the planned October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar. The demonstration was called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral process irregularities. Citing law and order concerns as well as public traffic disruptions, Delhi Police issued a strict refusal notice to the organizers. Security forces have also begun sending official notices to political activists across multiple states to prevent them from gathering in the capital.
However, the CJP has strongly challenged the police decision and hit back with full force. Party leaders declared that holding a peaceful protest is a fundamental constitutional right that cannot be blocked arbitrarily. Addressing the media, CJP representatives stated that the fear of police action or jail time would not stop them, and the protest will go ahead as scheduled. "We have consistently promised a non violent and disciplined agitation. Suppressing democratic voices only proves that our demands are making an impact", said CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. Several student groups and Left organizations have also extended their support to the planned gathering. With both sides standing firm, security around central Delhi is being tightened, setting up a major political standoff this weekend.
