In a massive shock for the party, the Congress has completely failed to win a single seat in the recently held Legislative Council bypolls across four major states. The elections were held for a total of 28 seats across Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Karnataka. Even though the Congress party contested several seats, it drew a total blank everywhere, losing even the seats it held previously.

The biggest blow came from Karnataka, where the Congress is currently ruling the state government. The party fought four seats there but lost all of them to rival parties like the BJP and JD(S). Similar poor results were seen in Maharashtra and Bihar, while in Uttar Pradesh, the party did not even field any candidates. Political leaders have started reacting strongly to these results, calling it a major warning sign for the grand old party grassroots strength and strategy ahead of upcoming state assembly elections.
