Have you ever seen people who do not enjoy the company of certain people but still refuse to leave them, simply because they want to fit in somewhere, in some so called social circle? Out of the fear of being alone, people accept being surrounded by those who carry regressive ideas. They allow themselves to become part of so much negativity that it adds no value to their lives and slowly takes away their inner happiness. But what if, one day, they gather the courage to walk away? What if they start seeing loneliness as solitude rather than something to be sad about?
Including me, we have all stopped doing so many things that once made us happy. Some of us stopped painting because we thought it would not mean much to the world. But what if we had continued, simply because it made us happy, some left their favourite jobs because they paid less. But do they still remember how those jobs made them feel? Some gave up playing sports to focus on building their careers, only to look back years later and say, “I wish I had continued. It was what made me the happiest".
Maybe we should paint again, even if our paintings never hang in a gallery. Maybe we should dance, sing, play, write, or do whatever it is that makes us forget to check the time. Not because we are going to be good at it, not because it will make us successful, but simply because we love doing it. Because the world will always have an opinion about what we should be doing with our time. But at the end of the day, we are the ones who have to live with the life we build. And I don't think happiness should always have to justify its existence.
