In a proud moment for Indian healthcare, famous surgeon Dr. Mohit Bhandari has created a massive medical record in Indore. On August 15, 2026, Dr. Bhandari and his dedicated team successfully performed 51 robotic bariatric surgeries in just 14 hours at Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics hospital.

Named the Surgical Swaraj initiative, this incredible marathon event was organized as a special tribute to Indias Independence Day. To achieve this historic goal, six state of the art SSI Mantra robotic systems were operated at the same time across multiple operation theatres. A large, synchronized medical team of assistant doctors, anesthetists, nurses, and technicians worked continuously to support the main surgeon.

The surgeries aimed to treat patients suffering from severe weight issues and related health conditions like type-2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Thanks to modern robotic technology, the procedures were accurate and safe. Most patients recovered very quickly and were safely sent home on just the second day after their operation.

This is not Dr. Bhandaris first landmark success. In 2019, he made it into the World Book of Records by performing 53 traditional weight loss surgeries in 13 hours and 20 minutes. This new national achievement clearly shows that India is leading the world in advanced, high tech, and affordable robotic healthcare for all.
