In a major development for Indian cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur has officially stepped down as captain of the India Women team across all formats. The star batter shared an emotional statement on social media, confirming the end of her long and successful journey as team leader.

Harmanpreet took over captaincy duties years ago and became one of Indias most successful leaders in white ball cricket. Under her captaincy, India achieved legendary victories, including their historic Womens ODI World Cup title and back to back Asian Games gold medals.

Speaking about her decision, Harmanpreet mentioned that she leaves the captaincy with peace in her heart and full faith in the team future. I feel I have done my duty. I gave this team everything I had. Now, it is time for me to turn the page, she stated, confirming that she will continue to play as a pure batter for India. The decision followed a review meeting with BCCI officials, head coach Amol Muzumdar, and vice captain Smriti Mandhana in Guwahati. Mandhana is now widely expected to take over as the next skipper. Fans across the country are expressing gratitude to Harmanpreet for her extraordinary contribution to Indian cricket.
