The Supreme Court of India intervened to review severe public transport and movement restrictions imposed across Delhi ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest scheduled for October 10. A bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant directed authorities to ensure that city wide public transport, especially Delhi Metro operations and key train services, is not completely shut down.

Highlighting the difficulties faced by daily commuters, office workers, students, and senior citizens coming from NCR cities like Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad, the court stated that security measures must remain practical and fair. The bench observed that while maintaining law and order is important, authorities should not bring the entire city to a halt or apply disproportionate restrictions.

In response, the government agreed to review the blanket shutdown plan for metro station entry gates and train cancellations. Authorities will now allow metro and train services to run in a regulated manner instead of a total freeze. Additionally, Delhi Police has been directed to publish clear traffic advisories and manage road blockades so that general traffic can flow smoothly across non restricted zones in the national capital. This order aims to maintain law and order while protecting the basic rights and mobility of everyday citizens.
