Canada is moving at top speed to finalize a landmark free trade agreement with India by the end of this year. At the same time, Ottawa is deepening strategic commercial bonds with the European Union to build safer supply networks. This aggressive global push comes as Canadian leaders actively diversify trade and reduce their heavy economic reliance on the traditional United States market.
The proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement aims to double two way trade between India and Canada to 70 billion dollars annually by 2030. A historic trade delegation of nearly 300 delegates is currently visiting India to unlock fresh opportunities across clean energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and technology sectors. Meanwhile, Ottawa is coordinating closely with European partners on critical minerals, artificial intelligence, and clean transition technology.
Both New Delhi and Ottawa have moved past previous diplomatic hurdles to focus strongly on mutual economic growth. With technical talks making rapid progress, Indian businesses and investors are eagerly awaiting the final signing of this major partnership before the year ends.
