A major song copyright controversy surrounding Mirzapur The Movie appears to be settling down after music label Trouper Records issued an official clarification. Rajasthani rapper Rapperiya Baalam, whose real name is Ashok Bishnoi, recently claimed that production house Excel Entertainment used his popular song Shoorveer in the film without taking his consent or informing him.
In a heartfelt Instagram video, the emotional singer expressed his deep hurt over the situation. He shared that the song was specifically created as a tribute to the legendary ruler Maharana Pratap. He objected strongly to its background placement in scenes that glorify fictional movie villains and gangsters, calling it completely wrong. He also questioned who held the original legal copyright to grant such permissions without reaching out to him directly.
Responding to these viral allegations, Trouper Records, the music label owning the song, released an official statement. They confirmed that Shoorveer was legally licensed to Excel Entertainment for in-film use, while explicitly crediting Rapperiya Baalam as both the singer and composer.
Directed by Gurmeet Singh, Mirzapur The Movie is a film adaptation of the hit series featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Ravi Kishan, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, and Jitendra Kumar. The feature film officially released in cinema halls on September 4, 2026.
