On the seventh day of Sharad Navratri, known as Saptami, devotees across the nation are worshipping Maa Kalaratri. Known as the most powerful and fierce form of Goddess Durga, Maa Kalaratri protects her followers from dark energy, evil spirits, and fear. Despite her dark, fierce look, she brings good fortune and is lovingly called Shubhankari.
Shubh Muhurat
Devotees can perform the auspicious morning puja during Brahma Muhurat from 4:59 AM to 5:47 AM or Abhijit Muhurat from 11:43 AM to 12:28 PM. The evening puja time is from 3:54 PM to 6:14 PM.
Puja Vidhi & Mantra
Start the day by taking an early bath and wearing clean dark blue or red clothes. Clean the puja room, light a ghee lamp, and offer red hibiscus or jasmine flowers along with kumkum. Chant the powerful mantra, “Om Devi Kalaratryai Namah”.
Bhog & Fasting Rules
The main Prasad for Maa Kalaratri is Jaggery (Gud) or sweets made from jaggery, such as kheer or malpua, which bring good health and remove trouble. People observing the fast should eat simple Satvik items like fresh fruits, milk, sabudana, and dishes made with sendha namak (rock salt). Avoid eating wheat, rice, onions, and garlic today. Keep your mind positive, stay calm, and pray with total devotion.
