In a major political shift, senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi has been appointed as India's new Union Education Minister. He was given this important additional charge after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned following the recent NEET exam paper leak protests. But who exactly is Pralhad Joshi? Let us look at his inspiring journey.

Born on November 27, 1962, in Vijayapura, Karnataka, Joshi is a highly experienced and respected politician. He finished his schooling at Railway School and New English School in Hubballi. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Shri Kadasiddeshwar Arts College. Interestingly, before entering full-time politics, he worked as a successful industrialist and businessman.

Joshi has been connected with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since his young days. He first became famous among the public during the 1992-1994 Hubballi Idgah Maidan movement, where he strongly fought to hoist the Indian national flag. His hard work made him a local hero. He first won the Lok Sabha election from Dharwad in 2004. Since then, the people have trusted him so much that he has continuously won the parliamentary elections five times from the exact same seat! He even served as the BJP state president for Karnataka between 2012 and 2016.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi trusts him deeply. From 2019 to 2024, Joshi successfully ran important ministries like Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs. Today, along with the Education Ministry, he also manages the Ministries of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Renewable Energy.
