In a major relief for thousands of job seekers, the Jharkhand government has decided to cancel the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) preliminary examination along with two backlog exams. This decision comes after days of intense protests by students alleging paper leaks and serious irregularities in the recruitment process.
Following high level talks between government officials and student representatives, three JPSC commission members also submitted their resignations. To satisfy the protesting candidates, the state government announced a two pronged inquiry. The Crime Investigation Department(CID) will investigate the criminal side, while the Enforcement Directorate(ED) will look into financial fraud. Fast track courts will also be set up to complete investigation processes within 90 days.
However, the student leaders remain firm on their primary demand. They clearly stated that canceling the exams is not enough and that their agitation will continue until a Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) probe is officially ordered. The students rejected the government proposal of a judicial committee led by a retired judge.
The protesting aspirants announced that they will move forward with their planned march toward the Jharkhand Assembly. They emphasized that only an independent CBI investigation can restore trust in public service exams. Chief Minister Hemant Soren assured youth that strict action will be taken against all culprits.
