The Karnataka government has announced strict rules for firecracker use during Deepavali 2026. People across the state will be allowed to burst firecrackers only between 8 pm and 10 pm from November 8 to November 10. The decision aims to reduce air and noise pollution during the festival. Environment Minister Ramalinga Reddy announced the restrictions and said that only certified green crackers will be allowed. He has also directed senior police officials and district administrations to make sure that people follow these rules.
Green crackers produce lower emissions than regular firecrackers. Buyers should check the green cracker logo and QR code on the packaging before purchasing them. Crackers without the required markings may be treated as unauthorised products. The government has also asked officials to inspect firecracker shops and storage places. Only authorised sellers with valid licences will be allowed to sell crackers. Authorities have been instructed to take action against illegal sales and the transport of prohibited firecrackers.
The minister said that increasing firecracker use has added to pollution levels over the years. He appealed to children and young people to celebrate safely and avoid causing harm to others. The restrictions follow the Supreme Court approach of allowing controlled celebrations instead of unrestricted firecracker use. People in Karnataka should follow the announced timings and buy only approved green crackers to avoid legal trouble.
