Global K-pop phenomenon BTS and their agency, Big Hit Music (under HYBE), have scored a major legal win after a US federal court dismissed a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against them. The legal trouble began when plaintiff Melissa Mays filed a complaint in Virginia, claiming that the band and its team used her unreleased tracks without proper permission. However, the court did not find merit in the allegations. US District Judge Leonie Brinkema noted that the plaintiff failed to show valid legal grounds or solid evidence proving that BTS took anything from her music. Even after an amended complaint was submitted, the court ruled that it still did not meet standard legal requirements, officially throwing the case out.
This clean legal victory has brought massive relief and joy to millions of BTS fans, known as ARMY, around the world especially across India, where their fan following has exploded in recent years. Social media is currently buzzing with celebrations as fans trend victory messages for the group.
The ruling comes at an important moment as the seven members focus on their packed international schedules. For BTS and their management team, the decision firmly clears their name from unauthorized music use allegations and puts an end to the baseless dispute.
