Bageshwar Dham head Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has issued a public apology after a video of his recent discourse triggered massive anger among Hindu seers and devotees across the country. The row began during a Ram Katha event held in Shivpuri Madhya Pradesh where Shastri made statements comparing Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.
In a video that quickly went viral on social media platforms Shastri described Lord Ram as completely straight in his nature stance and name. On the other hand he referred to Lord Krishna as crooked in his posture walking style and appearance. He also commented on Krishna playing the flute calling it a simple sport compared to holding a bow.
His comments drew sharp criticism from seers religious leaders and devotees particularly in Mathura and Vrindavan who accused him of creating an unnecessary comparison between the two revered deities.
Facing heavy backlash Dhirendra Shastri released a video clarifying his position and offering a sincere apology with folded hands. He stated that he never intended to cause any division between Lord Ram and Lord Krishna or hurt public sentiments. He explained that his words were meant as a lighthearted devotional expression (Madhurya Bhava) often used by saints in Braj tradition. Shastri highlighted that he is himself a Krishna devotee and asked for forgiveness from anyone whose religious feelings were hurt.
