To fight this growing problem, Meta has built an advanced on device machine learning system that automatically detects suspicious messages directly on your mobile screen without invading your personal privacy.
The best part about this new Scam Alert feature is that it works entirely on your smartphone. Because the artificial intelligence model runs locally on your phone hardware, none of your personal chat messages or text details are ever sent to WhatsApp or Meta servers. How the New Security Feature Works to Protect Indian Users?
Whenever you receive a message from a number not saved in your phone contacts, the machine learning model quickly analyzes the language pattern and structure of the text. If the message looks like a dangerous scam, WhatsApp immediately shows a warning banner inside the chat window. The sender will not know that a warning has appeared on your screen.
Users can then quickly choose to block the unknown sender, report the contact, or ignore the warning if they trust the person. This optional tool is currently being tested in limited beta versions and will soon roll out to all Android and iPhone users. It offers an easy, effective shield against rising digital frauds across the country.
