In a major development, the automaker announced that it will design, develop, and manufacture brand new electric cars specifically crafted for Indian buyers, rather than just importing models from its international lineup. Alongside this product push, the company has officially received investment approval for Phase 2 expansion of its manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
VinFast revealed that it conducted detailed customer clinics and market studies to understand what Indian car buyers truly want. Based on this valuable local feedback, the brand made design and functional changes to its popular SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7. To dismiss recent market rumors, VinFast clarified that local assembly of these two models using completely knocked down CKD kits remains active and uninterrupted at its Thoothukudi facility.
