IAS Officer Tukaram Mundhe, currently serving as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner of Maharashtra, has launched a massive campaign to strictly enforce food safety and hygiene rules across the entire state. Known for his strict, no nonsense leadership, the officer is taking bold steps to protect public health.

To safeguard citizens from health hazards, Commissioner Mundhe has ordered strict action against street food vendors, local stalls, and restaurants serving or packing meals in printed newspapers. The printing ink used in newspapers contains dangerous toxic chemicals, including lead, which easily melt into hot or oily food. Consuming this contaminated food can cause severe diseases over time.

Along with banning newspaper packaging, he has strongly cracked down on the heavy use of harmful artificial coloring in popular everyday foods. Under these new standards, popular dishes such as roadside Chinese food, pav bhaji, and cotton candy must be prepared and sold strictly in their natural colors without dangerous chemical dyes.

To make this cleanliness drive a complete success, Mundhe directly appealed to regular citizens to avoid eating at dirty or unsanitary food stalls. He strongly urged the public to actively report unhygienic conditions and file official complaints so FDA authorities can take immediate, strict action.
