Bollywood producer Ektaa Kapoor has confirmed that The Dirty Picture 2 is in the works, nearly 15 years after the first film became a major hit. The announcement has created excitement among fans who have been waiting to know whether the popular film would return.

Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia podcast, Ektaa said she is planning the sequel because she now has a story she wants to share with audiences. She explained that the original film was about Silk Smitha, a South Indian actress whose life inspired the 2011 movie.

Ektaa said she never saw Silk Smitha simply as a victim. Instead, she viewed her as a woman who celebrated her sexuality and faced criticism for expressing herself freely. She also suggested that the new film will explore another woman story, but did not reveal who the central character will be.

The original The Dirty Picture starred Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor. Vidya Balan received the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film. At present, the makers have not revealed the sequel cast, director or release date. It is also not yet confirmed whether Vidya Balan will return for the second part. Ektaa has said that she plans to share more details soon. For now, fans will have to wait for further announcements about the film story and the actors who may be part of this much awaited sequel.
