In a alarming incident raising severe questions about medical staff safety a female doctor was physically assaulted inside a government Primary Health Centre in Wardha district Maharashtra right in front of five police personnel. The shocking event occurred at the Talegaon Primary Health Centre in Arvi taluka. Five police officers had brought a habitual offender identified as Kadir Ali Rajjak Ali to the hospital for a mandatory pre court medical examination.

According to hospital CCTV footage duty medical officer Dr. Shraddha Bhumre completed the examination and requested the accused to sign the required official documents. Immediately after signing the accused suddenly turned aggressive and slapped the female doctor hard across the face. Although the police officers quickly grabbed the criminal after the attack the incident left hospital staff and patients deeply shocked.

Outraged medical personnel pointed out that five uniformed officers failed to take necessary precautions to restrain a known criminal calling it a major lapse in police duty. The Maharashtra Gazette Medical Officers Association (MAGMO) met with the district collector to demand strict punishment against both the attacker and the negligent police personnel. Doctors warned that outpatient departments (OPD) will remain shut until stern administrative and legal action is taken reigniting state wide anger over hospital security.
