Coastal regions across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are on extreme high alert as Cyclone Arnab rapidly intensifies over the west central Bay of Bengal. According to the India Meteorological Department, the storm system is expected to cross the coastline between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, packing sustained wind speeds touching 140 kilometers per hour.

The weather agency has issued red alerts for multiple coastal districts, warning of extremely heavy rainfall, localized flooding, and storm surges. In response, both state governments have activated emergency response protocols, deploying National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force personnel to vulnerable coastal areas. Authorities have ordered the closure of schools, colleges, and popular sea beaches across vulnerable zones to safeguard lives.

Mass evacuations are currently underway in low lying regions, with thousands of residents being shifted to temporary shelter homes equipped with food and medical supplies. Fishermen have been strictly advised to stay away from the deep sea until the weather system clears completely. Additionally, railways have canceled over fifty passenger train services along the eastern coastal route to prevent accidents. Chief Ministers from both states held high level review meetings, ordering round the clock monitoring and quick power restoration teams.
