San Francisco Global technology giant Nvidia is in negotiations to invest up to $3 billion in SB Energy, a leading renewable energy and data center firm backed by Japan SoftBank Group. This massive deal is connected to a major infrastructure venture in Ohio, USA, where SB Energy is building a powerful 10 gigawatt data center campus.

The state of the art facility is being constructed specifically for ChatGPT maker OpenAI to train and operate its next generation artificial intelligence models using thousands of advanced microchips.

Under the proposed arrangement, Nvidia will inject $1.5 billion directly into SB Energy once the Ohio agreement is signed. The remaining $1.5 billion will be deployed when SB Energy launches its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the stock market, which could take place as early as next month.

Running complex AI applications requires immense amounts of continuous electrical power and advanced computing hardware. By investing heavily in SB Energy, Nvidia is not just selling chips it is securing direct ownership in the power grid and physical infrastructure that keeps those chips operational. This targeted $3 billion equity investment forms part of a broader, multi-billion-dollar financing structure involving Nvidia, SoftBank, and OpenAI aimed at supercharging the global future of artificial intelligence.
