In a major crackdown on food safety, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the business licence of a Velocity Express warehouse linked to Parle Agro in Mumbai.
The drastic action was taken after FDA officials conducted a surprise night inspection at the warehouse located in the Chembur area. During the raid, inspectors discovered large batches of expired popular drinks, including Frooti, Appy Fizz, and Candy Juice.
Food safety authorities immediately seized the expired stock valued at ₹99,970. The regulator has strictly banned these expired products from being sold, transported, or distributed anywhere in the market. Furthermore, the entire warehouse was sealed to prevent any illegal movement of goods.
This emergency raid comes amid a massive statewide drive led by the Maharashtra FDA to ensure food safety and protect public health. Authorities warned that strict legal action will continue against any distributor or company storing or selling unsafe, expired items to consumers. Buyers are strongly advised to check the expiry dates printed on beverage packages before drinking.
