With Diwali and Chhath Puja approaching, Indian Railways is arranging special trains to help passengers travel to their hometowns. These additional services are expected to provide more travel options for people travelling from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the busy festive season. Many people living in Delhi and other cities travel home during Diwali and Chhath to celebrate with their families. Due to the heavy rush, getting a confirmed train ticket can be difficult. Festival special trains aim to reduce pressure on regular services and make travel easier for passengers.

One important service is the New Delhi Patna Vande Bharat Festival Special, which is scheduled to operate between October 21 and November 26, 2026, on selected days. The train from Delhi to Patna is scheduled to depart at 8:35 am and reach Patna at 9:30 pm. It will stop at Aligarh, Kanpur Central, Prayagraj, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Buxar and Ara. Other special services are also planned for passengers travelling towards Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Some trains have sleeper and general coaches, giving passengers different travel options.

However, not every special train runs daily. Passengers should check the train number, running date, departure time, stoppages and ticket availability before starting their journey. The latest information can be checked through official Indian Railways services. These additional trains may bring relief to passengers hoping to reach home in time for the festivals.
