Police in Deoghar, Jharkhand, have arrested two brothers for their alleged involvement in an online cyber fraud case. The arrests were made on October 11, 2026, as part of an investigation into fraud linked to online shopping and digital payment services. According to a report by Amar Ujala, the accused have been identified as Dhananjay Yadav and Sanjay Yadav. Police arrested them in the Pathardih area following a tip off about people allegedly cheating others by pretending to be customer care representatives and bank officials.
Police said the brothers allegedly used the names of well known services, including Flipkart, Amazon Pay, Google Pay and PhonePe, to gain people trust. They also allegedly posed as Airtel Payments Bank officials and used the name of the PM Kisan scheme to target people. During the operation, police recovered three mobile phones and three SIM cards from the accused. An initial examination of the seized devices reportedly revealed important clues related to cyber fraud.
Further technical checks reportedly found that the mobile numbers and device identification numbers were linked to complaints of cyber fraud in different states. A case has been registered at the Deoghar Cyber Police Station, and investigators are examining the matter to identify other possible links. The arrests highlight the need to stay alert while dealing with online payments and customer care services. People should use official websites and verified helpline numbers instead of trusting unknown callers.
