Delhi Police have arrested social media content creator Amir Shokeen over allegations that he racially abused and humiliated a young man from Tripura. The action came after a video showing the alleged incident went viral on social media and sparked strong public anger. The video reportedly showed Shokeen making offensive comments about the young man appearance and identity. The remarks were widely criticised by people from Tripura and other northeastern states, who demanded strict action against the content creator.

The issue also caught the attention of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. Rijiju condemned the alleged behaviour and said that the Delhi and Tripura Police would take action. Manik Saha also directed the state Director General of Police to coordinate with Delhi Police over the matter. The Tripura Students Forum Delhi also sought an urgent investigation and called for legal action against those involved in recording and sharing the video.

Shokeen later issued an apology and claimed that the video was scripted as a joke. However, his explanation did not stop the public criticism. Police are examining the video and investigating the allegations. The incident has started a wider discussion about racial discrimination faced by people from Northeast India. Many people have stressed that people from every state deserve equal respect and dignity. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
