The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly witnessed fiery scenes today as Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched a direct attack on the opposition DMK party. Speaking during the Assembly session, CM Vijay cited official documents from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to allege wide spread corruption during the previous DMK government, specifically in the state-run liquor company, TASMAC.
CM Vijay revealed official ED findings that exposed serious irregularities, including tender manipulation, bribery, illegal cash transactions, and excessive pricing at liquor shops. He stated that the ED reports explicitly mention terms like malpractice ,fraud, and organized crime syndicate to describe the functioning of the previous regime.
According to the evidence presented by the Chief Minister, kickbacks worth crores of rupees were collected under the guise of party funds from liquor bar owners, vehicle transporters, and distillery suppliers. CM Vijay accused senior DMK leadership of abusing their power to run a structured corruption network, calling it scientific corruption. He asserted that the ED documents provide clear proof of dishonest intentions and systematic looting of public funds.
The Chief Minister explosive claims led to an immediate uproar in the House. Protesting strongly against the allegations, opposition DMK leaders raised slogans near the Speaker podium and eventually staged a walkout from the Assembly. Challenging the opposition, CM Vijay asked if this evidence was not enough to prove their wrong doing. He promised the assembly that his administration would take strict action against everyone involved in the multi crore TASMAC liquor scam to ensure full accountability and clean governance in the state.
