Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has questioned Opposition parties over their decision to continue contesting elections while alleging that the electoral process is being rigged. His comments came amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In a post on X, Dipke said Opposition parties should not continue participating in elections if they believe the system is not fair. He argued that taking part in such elections gives legitimacy to the process they are questioning.
Dipke also questioned why political parties continue to contest elections despite raising allegations about problems in the electoral system. He said that if elections are being manipulated, the issue should be treated seriously regardless of the state or political party involved. His remarks come at a time when the Election Commission is facing criticism over the SIR exercise. Some Opposition leaders have raised concerns about electoral rolls and alleged irregularities. The Election Commission, however, has maintained that decisions related to SIR were taken with the approval of the election commissioners.
Dipke has also demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. CJP has announced that it plans to begin nationwide protests from Mumbai on October 2 if its demand is not met. The issue is expected to remain a major political point of discussion as the debate over electoral rolls and the Election Commission continues.
