A late-night joyride turned into a devastating nightmare near the Cochin International Airport in Kerala. Three young friends, all in their early twenties, lost their lives when a speeding Mini Cooper rammed heavily into their scooter.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours near Nedumbassery. The victims identified as Devika, Gopika, and Ijaz were returning after grabbing tea at a nearby shop when the luxury vehicle struck them from behind. The impact was so severe that the victims were thrown onto the road, and the mini cooper car dragged their two-wheeler for nearly 100 metres.

Local residents quickly rushed to the spot and intercepted the vehicle, taking hold of the driver. The accused was identified as 19-year-old Suhail Sajeev, who was reportedly gifted the luxury mini cooper car for his birthday. Eyewitnesses were left infuriated when the teenager showed no remorse and arrogantly stated, “My father will handle everything”.

Police have taken the teenager into custody and registered a case for culpable homicide. Preliminary investigations and medical checks suggest the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. This heart wrenching tragedy has triggered massive public outrage across the country, igniting serious debates on reckless driving, parental accountability, and road safety for young lives.
