Union Home Minister Amit Shah advised young Indian Police Service probationers to stay completely away from self promotion and focus instead on solid performance, urging them to treat authority as a duty toward citizens rather than a tool for personal recognition.
Addressing probationers of the seventy eighth batch at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, Shah emphasized that genuine respect and institutional credibility come strictly from disciplined fieldwork, integrity, and timely justice delivery. The Home Minister highlighted that young officers must stay grounded in constitutional values, master modern technology, and work toward implementing recent criminal law reforms right down to the grassroots level. He reminded the officer trainees that publicity often distracts from core policing responsibilities, whereas dedication to public safety creates long lasting institutional impact.
Senior ministry officials and academy faculty members attended the event alongside foreign police officers participating from partner nations. Shah concluded his address by urging the new batch to remain vigilant against emerging security threats, dismantle criminal networks, and maintain absolute integrity throughout their police careers.
