In a major statement on India military reforms Indian Air Force Chief Marshal AP Singh emphasized that the creation of joint military commands must directly address India unique security challenges rather than simply copying Western or foreign models.
Speaking on the proposed theaterisation plan which aims to integrate the Army Navy and Air Force under unified regional commands the Air Chief stressed that national defense needs must take top priority. He clearly stated that the Indian Air Force does not support permanently dividing fighter aircraft across different geographic regions. Air power he explained works best with centralized control so jets can be quickly redirected wherever a threat arises.
Air Chief Marshal Singh highlighted that future wars will involve multi domain warfare requiring all three forces to work together far more closely than ever before. However he urged caution advising that a military transformation of this scale should happen step by step in phases, so that the country border readiness is never compromised. His message highlights a clear focus modernizing India armed forces must build a flexible tailor made security system that effectively protects the nation borders.
