Yamuna River Water Level Rises, Delhi and Noida on Alert

The water level of Yamuna river has once again created an alarming situation for residents living in low lying areas of Delhi and adjoining Noida. Rising water pushed the administration to carry out large scale evacuations as precautionary measures against possible flooding. More than ten thousand people in Delhi were moved to safer shelters after water levels crossed the danger mark near key points. Temporary relief camps were set up by the Delhi government. Where food, drinking water, and medical help were arranged for affected families. Several roads along the riverbed were closed as a safety measure to prevent accidents and traffic chaos.

In Noida, around six hundred residents from villages close to the Yamuna bank were shifted to relief camps. The river came dangerously close to the warning level, forcing the district administration to act quickly. Boats and disaster management teams remained deployed for continuous patrolling in vulnerable areas.

Administration on High Alert

Both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh authorities are maintaining round the clock monitoring of water levels. Flood control rooms are active, and alerts are being issued regularly to warn people against entering restricted zones near the river. The situation has also impacted traffic movement on several stretches, with diversions placed for vehicles.

Experts have warned that heavy rainfall in upper catchment areas could worsen the situation further. Continuous inflow from Haryana has already increased pressure on the Yamuna, raising fears of fresh flooding if rains persist.

The focus right now remains on ensuring that those displaced receive timely support and no lives are put at risk. While monsoon brings annual challenges along the Yamuna, the scale of evacuation this time shows the seriousness of the threat faced by thousands of residents in Delhi NCR.
