VinFast Limo Green Spotted Testing in India Ahead of Launch

The Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has taken a clear step toward expanding its presence in India. The seven-seater SUV dubbed Limo Green recently hit Indian roads in camouflage, signalling that mass production or import is drawing close.

Photographs reveal a high-roof design with an upright stance and large greenhouse suggesting three rows of seating. Rear vertical tail-lamps and alloy wheels match the earlier design patent filed in India in August 2025. Inside the vehicle spy shots show a digital cluster and a wide infotainment screen, hinting at modern cabin features. Originally, VinFast launched the VF6 and VF7 models in India to mark its entry. This new Limo Green vehicle aims to cover families and fleet buyers seeking more space. Globally, the model offers a 60.1 kWh battery with a single front motor delivering approximately 201 bhp and 280 Nm of torque, and a claimed driving range of around 450 km. Fast-charging capability from 10 % to 70 % comes in roughly 30 minutes.

For India, bringing in this large EV poses several strategic benefits for VinFast. Three-row electric models remain relatively scarce in Indian showrooms, giving Limo Green room to carve a niche. Moreover, the brand already set up an assembly facility in Tamil Nadu, which could help with localisation and pricing competitiveness.

However, several factors will determine whether the model succeeds here. Pricing needs to hit the right sweet spot against established rivals and emerging EV options in the premium family segment. Service network and charging infrastructure will also play a big role in convincing buyers to go for a somewhat lesser-known brand. Finally, actual specs and configuration for the Indian market may differ from the international version. Carity on which battery variant or motor output will be offered matters.

If VinFast delivers on features and price, the Limo Green may appeal to Indian buyers seeking space, technology and zero-emissions without paying ultra-premium SUV sums. The three-row EV segment is only just beginning here, so being early could give VinFast an advantage. At the same time, this move puts pressure on local brands and future EV entrants to step up their offering in the family-EV space. In short, the Limo Green test appearance in India holds more than just novelty value. It signals readiness, intent and strategy. The next steps pricing, configurations, launch timeline will determine how well VinFast can convert this moment into meaningful market traction.
