Patna Violence: Lawyer and Teacher Among Four Killed in 24 Hours, Law and Order Under Scrutiny

A sudden spike in violent crimes across Bihar has raised serious concerns about the state’s deteriorating law and order situation. In the span of just 24 hours, four separate murders were reported, including the shocking daylight killings of a lawyer and a school teacher in Patna.

Rising Crime in the State Capital

In one of the most disturbing incidents, a school teacher was shot dead while riding his motorcycle in the Phulwarisharif area of Patna. Eyewitnesses say two bike-borne assailants chased the victim and opened fire from close range before fleeing the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Only hours earlier, a lawyer was also gunned down in the heart of the city. Initial reports suggest that he was targeted near his residence. The motive is still unclear, but local residents fear a growing pattern of contract killings and gang-related violence.

Public Fear and Political Pressure

These back-to-back killings have sparked panic among locals and triggered political reactions. Opposition parties have accused the state government of failing to ensure basic public safety. Citizens are demanding stricter patrolling, quicker investigations, and harsher action against criminal networks operating openly in urban and rural areas alike.

The police have confirmed that special teams have been formed to investigate each case. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and raids are ongoing in various parts of the city. While officials claim progress, no significant breakthroughs have been announced yet.

Multiple Killings Add to the Tension

Apart from the two murders in Patna, two more killings were reported from other parts of the state within the same 24-hour period. All four incidents appear unrelated, but the timing has intensified the sense of insecurity.

Bihar has long struggled with issues related to political interference, under-resourced police forces, and slow judicial processes. With public trust now shaken again, authorities face mounting pressure to restore order and ensure that justice is delivered swiftly in each case.
