Maserati Grecale Folgore Arrives in India at Rs 1.89 Crore

Luxury brand Maserati has introduced its first fully electric SUV in India, the Grecale Folgore, with a price tag of Rs 1.89 crore (ex-showroom). This model sits just below the petrol V6 variant in the lineup, offering an electric alternative with premium appeal. Under the skin the Grecale Folgore packs a 105 kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Combined output reaches 550 hp and 820 Nm of torque, enabling a sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, despite a kerb weight of 2,480 kg. Top speed stands at 220 km/h while the driving range extends to 501 km on a single charge.

Charging flexibility forms a key highlight. The vehicle supports both 22 kW AC charging for convenient overnight top-ups and 150 kW DC fast charging for rapid energy replenishment. That combination aims to appeal to luxury buyers who expect performance and practicality.

From a market positioning angle Maserati places this electric SUV alongside its ICE-powered Grecale variants. The standard Grecale begins at Rs 1.31 crore while the Modena variant is priced at Rs 1.40 crore and the top-end Trofeo commands Rs 1.96 crore. By comparison the Folgore pricing appears calibrated to sit between the Modena and Trofeo, making a statement about electrification without overshooting the brand upper tier.

What makes the Grecale Folgore noteworthy is the shift in luxury EV offerings in India. With this model Maserati signals that performance EVs are no longer niche experiments but premium mainstream alternatives. The brand leverages its sporty SUV persona and electrifies it without diluting core DNA. The combination of high power, long range and luxury branding could resonate with buyers ready to leap into EV territory.

On the other hand challenges remain. India’s luxury electric market still grapples with charging infrastructure, perception of resale value and service ecosystems. Buyers of Rs 1-2 crore EVs expect not just brand prestige but a seamless ownership experience. Maserati success with the Folgore will depend on how well it supports those expectations across network, after-sales and charging. In essence the Grecale Folgore emerges as a bold move in India EV story. It blends Maserati performance heritage with electric ambition and delivers specifications that demand attention. If the market responds, this model may pave the way for more performance-luxury EVs from premium marques in India.
