Mahindra Scorpio-N Gets Level 2 ADAS and New Z8T Trim in Major Upgrade

Mahindra has added Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to the Mahindra Scorpio‑N, marking a significant advancement in safety for its ICE SUV line-up. These smart features are now available on the top‑trim Z8L variant. At the same time, the company has launched a new Z8T variant, offering premium comforts without ADAS—positioned between Z8 and Z8L for more balanced pricing.

Safety and Comfort of Mahindra Scorpio-N

The upgraded Mahindra Scorpio‑N now boasts features typically found in high-end SUVs. On the Z8L trim, drivers get Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop‑and‑Go, Smart Pilot Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and High Beam Assist. Additionally, it is India’s first ICE SUV to offer Speed Limit Assist and Front Vehicle Start Alert—systems that warn about speed limits and alert drivers when the car in front moves.

The new Z8T variant slots in just below the Z8L ADAS trim but retains many premium features. It offers 18‑inch alloy wheels, a 12‑speaker Sony sound system, front parking cameras and sensors, ventilated front seats, auto‑dimming IRVM, a 6‑way powered driver’s seat, and an electronic parking brake. It caters to buyers seeking luxury without paying for ADAS.

Pricing, Sales Milestone, and Real‑World Safety Concerns

Mahindra Scorpio-N Ex-showroom prices start at ₹21.35 lakh for the Z8L ADAS variants and at ₹20.29 lakh for the Z8T trim. The ADAS update justifies a ~₹46,000 premium over the earlier Z8L version . Mahindra also celebrates selling over 2.5 lakh Scorpio‑N units in its three-year run.

Despite a strong five-star Global NCAP rating, Scorpio‑N scored zero stars in Australia’s ANCAP due to the previous lack of ADAS. Reddit users in India have debated the relevance of ADAS here:

“ADAS is not for Indian roads,” said one user, while another noted, “ADAS surprising useful … drowsiness detection … caught me nodding off.”

Mahindra’s ADAS upgrade for the Scorpio‑N signals a clear shift toward advanced safety in mainstream SUVs. Prospective buyers now have a choice: go for full ADAS protection with the Z8L or pick the value-driven Z8T with premium comforts. Either way, the Scorpio‑N becomes more appealing in a safety-conscious market.
