Mahindra & Mahindra reported total vehicle sales of 78,969 units in June 2025, marking a 14% year-on-year growth. This impressive performance came at a time when several major automakers faced declining sales due to weak urban demand and subdued market sentiment.

SUV Segment Leads the Charge

The company’s SUV lineup continues to be the backbone of its success. Domestic SUV sales stood at 47,306 units, reflecting an 18% growth compared to the same month last year. When including exports, the total SUV volume reached 48,329 units, reinforcing Mahindra’s stronghold in the utility vehicle segment.

Commercial Vehicles and Three-Wheelers Show Mixed Trends

While some segments in the commercial vehicle category delivered moderate growth, the standout performer was the three-wheeler segment. This category, including electric variants, recorded 2,634 units in exports, posting a significant improvement from last year. The rise in export demand contributed to Mahindra’s overall positive performance.

Mahindra Climbs to Second Spot

Thanks to robust SUV sales, Mahindra surpassed Hyundai to become India’s second-largest automaker by monthly volume in June 2025. The company’s strategic focus on high-demand categories like SUVs and its push in export markets has given it a competitive edge during a challenging period for the auto sector.

Positive Outlook for Coming Quarters

While other carmakers experienced a 12–15% drop in sales during the same period, Mahindra’s growth highlights its market resilience. With new launches expected and strong export demand continuing, the company appears well-positioned to sustain its upward momentum in the coming quarters.
