Morning on August 15 will bring India’s 79th Independence Day celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag and deliver his speech from the Red Fort. This will mark his 12th consecutive address, unfolding just months into his third term.

Television viewers can tune into the national broadcaster Doordarshan, which will air the ceremony live on both national and regional channels. All India Radio will beam the address across the country for those on the move.
Online audiences have several choices. The Press Information Bureau will stream the speech live on YouTube. Simultaneous feeds will roll out on official handles of the Prime Minister’s Office and social media platforms like X. Coverage from private news portals will also be available across websites and apps.
A handful of citizens lucky enough to reside within proximity of Red Fort may glimpse the event in person. Those planning to attend must book tickets through official portals beginning August 13. Offline bookings run from August 10 to 12 at designated Delhi offices. Tickets cost between ₹20 and ₹500. Attendance requires arriving early between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM; the event kicks off at 7:30 AM. Metro services will start early, with stations near Red Fort and Chandni Chowk serving as key access points. Strict security protocols will be in place on the ground.
