Elon Musk's Grokipedia - Enters The Encyclopedia Space

Grokipedia has launched as a bold attempt to challenge Wikipedia, backed by Elon Musk AI firm xAI. It promises a neutral, AI-driven twist on the encyclopedia model. According to its homepage it already hosts around 885,000 articles far fewer than Wikipedia but it’s new and aiming for scale.

What sets it apart is this: instead of typing full natural language queries like “Tell me about Barcelona”, a user simply enters the name of the subject (such as “Barcelona”) and the platform synthesises information using a hybrid model of community contributions plus primary sources processed by xAI algorithm. Musk has made no secret of his dissatisfaction with Wikipedia perceived biases, and Grokipedia aim is a more “fact-based and unbiased” perspective.

Access is straightforward: visit grokipedia.com (should you choose) and log in with your X account. Be aware: there’s no official mobile application just yet, so any app claiming to be Grokipedia may be unreliable or worse. That said, what this really means is the product is in version 0.1 early, rough, experimental. Some user feedback has already pointed to quirks. Grokipedia entry on Elon Musk included a claim that he lost 20 kg in weight. That generated controversy because it seemed unrelated, raising doubts about the platform “neutral and fact-based” promise.

From a user perspective, the upside lies in having a fresh alternative to Wikipedia, potentially less subject to traditional editorial constraints. But risk exists: early stage means accuracy and depth will be uneven. If you rely on reference material for reporting, writing, or research, treat Grokipedia as a supplementary tool not the only source. In short, keep watching this space.
