Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has once again spoken out against former U.S. President Donald Trump’s new bill, calling it “utterly insane and destructive.” He warned that the bill would hurt American jobs and increase the country’s debt in a big way.
Musk Says Bill Could Harm the Economy
Musk shared his thoughts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying the bill could kill millions of jobs and add trillions of dollars to the national debt. He also said that it would hurt industries working on the future—like electric vehicles and space tech—while helping outdated sectors.
The proposed bill, known as the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” is nearly 1,000 pages long and includes a $5 trillion increase in the debt ceiling. Musk called this move dangerous and said it would burden future generations.
Many Republican voters seem to agree with Musk. Reports suggest that more than half of Republican supporters think passing the bill would hurt the party politically.
Tension Between Elon Musk and Donald Trump Grows
This is not the first time Musk has clashed with Trump. Earlier this year, Trump criticized Musk publicly, and Musk hit back by calling this bill a “disgusting mess.” He even shared memes to express how bad he thought it was.
Some experts say this fight could also hurt Musk’s businesses. If the bill cuts support for electric vehicles, it could impact Tesla’s profits. On the other hand, some parts of the bill—like funding for artificial intelligence—might benefit companies like Musk’s.
In the U.S. Senate, the bill just barely passed a first vote, with 51 senators in favor and 49 against. But several lawmakers, including Republicans, are now raising concerns and asking for changes before any final decision.
Elon Musk’s strong words have added pressure on lawmakers and stirred debate in both business and political circles. Whether or not the bill moves forward, his message is clear: this legislation, in its current form, could hurt jobs, the economy, and innovation.
