Apple latest iPhone Air has dropped sharply in India. The device now carries a price tag of Rs 54,900 during the Croma Black Friday sale (November 22–30). That’s roughly a decline of Rs 65,000 from its original price. First, the phone is ultra-slim. At just 5.6 mm thick and 156 g in weight, it’s the slimmest iPhone Apple has produced. Second, it utilises the same A19 Pro chipset found in the iPhone 17 Pro models (albeit with one fewer GPU core).
So performance is near flagship tier multitasking and gaming run smoothly. Third, the display impresses. The 6.5-inch OLED panel with ProMotion refresh rate performs at a level comparable to the Pro models. It holds up well for streaming or heavy usage. Fourth, the camera setup is unique for an iPhone in this class. While it carries a single rear camera, it supports a 2× telephoto zoom (via digital cropping) a first for an iPhone with just one sensor.
Despite its strengths, two compromises stand out. The single-camera setup lacks flexibility. You don’t get an ultra-wide lens or multiple sensors like in the Pro lineup, so versatility drops. Also the slim form comes at the cost of battery life. While the phone can last through the day for moderate users, heavy users may need to bring a MagSafe battery pack or opt for a more battery reliable model.
If you’ve been looking for a premium iPhone air at a significantly lower cost and you value sleek design plus strong performance, this deal is compelling. On the other hand, if you prioritise camera versatility or long-lasting battery under heavy load, you might prefer to wait or consider another model. The sale timing is limited so acting quickly could make sense if the balance aligns with your priorities.
