Mahindra has announced a major price correction for the Thar ROXX after the government introduced GST 2.0 reforms. The new tax structure reduces overall burden on large utility vehicles, dropping GST rate to 40 percent from the earlier 48 percent. This single change has allowed Mahindra to lower ex-showroom prices by up to ₹1.33 lakh depending on the chosen variant. The entry level MX1 now costs ₹81,200 less than before, while MX3 is cheaper by ₹1.01 lakh. AX3 L sees a drop of ₹98,300, MX5 by ₹1.10 lakh, AX5 L by ₹1.22 lakh. The top spec AX7 L by the maximum reduction of ₹1.33 lakh. These revised figures are already effective for new buyers and also benefit those who booked the SUV earlier but are awaiting delivery.

The correction is not limited to Thar ROXX. Almost every ICE model in Mahindra stable has become more affordable. Cuts extend up to ₹1.56 lakh on SUVs like XUV 3XO, Bolero Neo, Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic and XUV700. The biggest slash lands on the XUV 3XO diesel, while Thar 4WD and Scorpio Classic record smaller yet meaningful savings.

Industry watchers note that this change sets a precedent as multiple carmakers have passed on full GST benefits to customers. Maruti, Tata and Kia have also reduced sticker prices, sharpening competition in a market that was slowing down under high ownership costs. With the festive season nearing, lower prices may drive a surge in bookings and help manufacturers regain lost momentum. For Mahindra, this move strengthens an already popular line-up. Thar ROXX was introduced to attract younger urban buyers with rugged styling and modern tech. The GST relief makes it an even more compelling choice against rivals in the lifestyle SUV space. Lower entry pricing could encourage fence-sitters to convert interest into actual purchases.

Experts believe GST 2.0 will boost overall utility vehicle sales by improving affordability and bridging gaps in consumer budgets. By acting quickly, Mahindra ensures customers see immediate relief, which builds goodwill and positions the brand strongly ahead of potential future adjustments.
